Eslöv

Eslöv is a popular place to live with almost 32,000 inhabitants, located in the Öresund region in the vicinity of the learning city Lund and the major industrial city Malmö. Eslöv became in town in 1911, and then had 5,396 inhabitants. Eslöv, with just over 18,000 inhabitants, is the major population centre in the municipality. The municipality was founded in 1971, with 12 population centres. Flying, Löberöd, Marieholm and Stehag are each the centre of a municipality division. In Eslöv, you are close to most things, not least thanks to the good train communications with other parts of Skåne and Copenhagen. Here you find the calm of the small town, close to living countryside, but you also have access to culture and shops.

Language groups in the locality

There are many different language groups in Eslöv, partly because the municipality has received refugees for a long time. Apart from Swedish, some of the major languages are: Albanian, Arabic, Bosnia, Croatian, Serbian, Dari, English, Sorani, Kurmanji, Persian, Somali, Thai and Tigrinya.

What is available in the immediate area

Eslöv has a citizens’ office, library, employment service, social insurance office, tax office and social services office. The shops are varied, from small boutiques in town to rather larger shops some way outside the centre. There are also several cafés, gym, bank, study association, pharmacy and a cinema. You can find furniture in all price classes at Jysk, Blomsterbergs Möbler, and Erikshjälpen, which is Eslöv’s aid centre’s second-hand shop.

There is a broad range of cultural activities of high quality and a lively association scene within most interest groups. Facilities for culture, swimming and leisure activities are well-kept and are located in a beautiful environment. There is much to experience and do in Eslöv.

Childcare

Comprehensive and upper secondary schools

Comprehensive schools in Eslöv are divided up into 15 headship areas, including special comprehensive schooling and headship areas for resource schools and first language teaching. The municipality has a culture school, Kulturskolan, and two independent schools, Eslövs Montessorifriskola with pupils from pre-school to year 6, and Karl-Oskarskolan i Eslöv.

Bergagymnasiet offers many options for upper secondary education. You can choose from thirteen national programme with various specialisations, introduction programme, national sports programmes, sports upper secondary school and a large number of elective courses. Education opportunities

Eslöv offers good opportunities for adult education, at comprehensive, upper secondary and further education level. We have a well-functioning system for adult education, with Swedish for Immigrants, special education for adults, and municipal eduction for adults. The municipality also offers social orientation delivered in first languages. There is hardly any queue for Swedish for Immigrants.

A folk high school and occupational further education are also established in Eslöv. You can study at further education level at Lund University or Malmö University. högskola.

Health and medical care

The main rule is that when you need health and medical care, you should contact your medical centre in the first instance. There are several medical centres locally: Vårdcentral Tåbelund, Vårdcentral Kärråkra, Brahehälsan, Capio Specialisthuset and public dental service.

Interpreter assistance

Being able to express your views, feelings and thoughts is a prerequisites for feeling part of Swedish society. Also, the opportunity to understand what others are saying. Eslöv municipality’s interpreter services are located in the citizen’s centre in the town hall.

Public transport

Eslöv municipality is located in the centre of Skåne. It takes around 20 minutes by car to get to Lund, 40 minutes to Malmö and 1 hour to Helsingborg. Train and bus communications are available daily to other parts of Skåne and Copenhagen. It is possible to commute on a daily basis to work in the Öresund region. Skånetrafiken takes care of local trains, buses and disabled transport services, but on a regional basis, SJ and Veolia are also involved.

Work and entrepreneurship

The municipality is the major employer locally, and parts of the administration often need locums, in particular within elderly care. Within the next few years, many people will retire, which means that the need for labour within this operation will increase.
