Åre municipality is located in the Jämtland County and has 10,300 residents. The central place is Järpen with about 1,550 residents. The municipality is characterised by ambition, and magnificent nature, a place you would want to live in. There are many companies within tourism that employ many people. Other major employers are the municipality with jobs in healthcare, child-care, schools, etc.

In Åre, there are many houses, rental flats and ownership flats. There are both private and municipal companies that offer nice flats, for which it is easy to register in a housing queue. Language groups in the locality

In Järpen, the central locality, you will find municipal services. Health Centre, integration service, schools, child care, the Swedish Employment Service and sfi (Swedish for Immigrants) as well as grocery stores and restaurants.
In Åre there are a wide range of restaurants, shops and activities like skiing, swimming, biking, canoeing, etc.

Integration service
In the central locality, Järpen, there is an Integration service, where you can receive help with the following:
- Clear information and support in a language that you understand and are comfortable in.
- Practical support for taking care of your flat and enjoying your stay.
- At least two days a week, you can come to the integration service's open reception, without booking an appointment. You can get support for instance in paying bills, contacting other authorities, and getting the letters and documents explained.
- An evening a week, you can get help with homework and other questions.
You can book appointments for a private meeting with the staff at the integration service and receive help from an interpreter.
Childcare
Child-care is provided in most of the major villages in the municipality. When you move, we help you to register your child at the day-care home.
Compulsory schools and upper secondary schools
Primary and lower secondary schools are located in Kall, Mörsil, Järpen, Åre, Duved, Undersåker and Hallen. The upper secondary school is located in Järpen.
Education opportunities
Sfi, the municipal adult education and adult primary education are also provided in Järpen. We also have a public university college and a range of vocational courses on restaurant and tourism.
At commuting distance from Åre you find Mittuniversitet, located in Östersund, with several types of university courses.
We have very good collaboration with the Swedish Employment Service that also provides vocational education that facilitates finding work.

Health and medical care
Healthcare centres are located in Järpen, Hallen, Åre and Mörsil. The hospital and maternity clinic are in Östersund. The public dental clinic is in Åre and Järpen

Public transport
You can travel by bus throughout the municipality and by train between Östersund, Mörsil, Undersåker, Åre and Duved.
