Eksjö municipality, in the Småland highlands, stretches from the town of Eksjö in the west to Mariannelund in the east, on the border of Vimmerby. In between, there are a number of smaller population centres, and beautiful and living countryside.

Eksjö is the location of Höglandssjukhuset, which is a well-equipped accident and emergency hospital. Both Eksjö and Mariannelund have medical centres and public dental clinics.
