Childcare

Proximity, quality, consideration and small scale. These words are the guiding principles of Torsås municipality, not least when it comes to the arrangements for our younger residents.

In Torsås, the preschool system and comprehensive school system are run as a coherent whole with common goals. Live-long learning characterises our outlook from when your child starts preschool through to adult education.

Our preschools and schools are small and offer a nurturing teaching environment with qualified staff.

Compulsory schools and upper secondary schools

In Torsås municipality there are five cosy comprehensive schools and two upper secondary schools. The diminutive format and the high level of teacher density mean we achieve very good results with the teaching. There are also special schools here whose motto is "Some need more to achieve as much".

The Korrespondensgymnasiet has around 500 pupils and the school is Sweden's leading distance learning secondary school. Some of the school's pupils study onsite while other students study at a distance from home.

Education opportunities

Municipal adult education is coordinated by Kunskapsnavet in Torsås, Kalmar and Mörbylånga municipalities. At the Kunskapsnavet you can receive guidance and information regarding everything that adult education has to offer.

Health and medical care

There are health centres in Torsås and Söderåkra which offer healthcare and nursing care provided by staff with a broad range of skills and many years of experience.

Our aim is to see the whole you as an individual and to be able to offer continuity in the form of contact with the same doctor. We focus on health and in addition to standard health care you can also receive help with changing your living habits.

There are also dentist surgeries, antenatal clinics and child welfare centres.

Interpreter assistance

Those in need of assistance with having information translated into their own language, both written and spoken, are entitled to an interpreter. The businesses you visit in the municipality shall book an interpreter if you request one.

Public transport

Our municipality is located between the towns of Kalmar and Karlskrona. These towns are just half an hour away along the E22, and as it takes just 30 minutes to reach the airport, we come out on top of city residents in this respect!

The bus links to Kalmar and Karlskrona are good and they run several times a day.

You can travel by train from both Kalmar and Karlskrona. You can be in Malmö in less than three hours, for example. Another hour on top and you are in Copenhagen!

Work and entrepreneurship

The goal of Torsås municipality is to inspire and stimulate companies in the municipality.

To achieve this, the municipality's economic development officer and head of tourism work together with the trade and industry's local development centre (Torsås business centre). These three partners, through collaboration and networking, help the municipality's economic activities to develop and grow. They work on behalf of those who are or would like to become entrepreneurs in Torsås municipality.

Torsås business centre offers advice and is a sounding board for those people who want to start up or develop their own company.
