Childcare
Ale municipality offers child care for children aged 1-12. There are preschools, day recreation centres and family day nurseries (family child minder). Six-year-olds are offered places in preschool class. In Ale we work continuously to provide high-quality child care. In addition to the municipal preschools there are privately run ones.
Compulsory schools and upper secondary schools
Compulsory school comprises preschool class and years 1-9 in compulsory and special needs education. There are eleven municipal compulsory schools in Ale and one independent school, Ahlafors free school.
Education opportunities
By studying at Komvux you get an opportunity to finish your secondary or upper secondary education. You can also get a special qualification in order to be able to apply to universities or higher vocational education.
We also offer vocational and apprenticeship training, and Swedish for immigrants (Sfi).
Health and medical care
There are medical care centres in the urban areas, including Bohus, Nödinge, Nol and Älvängen. Nol, Bohus and Älvängen have child health care centres. There are also a large number of dentists in the municipality. The nearest emergency ward is in Kungälv, or optionally at Östra Sjukhuset in Gothenburg.
Interpreter assistance
If you do not speak or understand Swedish, you are entitled to have an interpreter in you language for your contacts with the municipality. This intepretation service is free of charge, and the municipality will help you book an interpreter.
Inform the department you are going to meet if you need an interpreter for your meetings with the municipality, and they will help you arrange an interpreter for you visit. Ale municipality hires interpreters through Tolkförmedling Väst.
Public transport
There are five commuter train stations in Ale municipality. At peak hours there are trains between Ale and Gothenburg every fifteen minutes. The commuter trains, along with connecting bus lines and commuter parking for bicycles as well as cars, makes it easy for the public transport user in Ale.

With the municipality's history as the location of the main Tudor battery manufacturer, energy technology is a speciality.
