Falköping has first language tuition in Arabic, Kurdish, Bosnian/Serbo-Croat, Polish, Finnish, Dutch, Somali, Albanian and Romani currently. This may vary from term to term, depending on applications and number of pupils.

The teachers teaching the first language are often from the same cultural area as the children. First language teachers must also have good knowledge of Swedish, and about Swedish society

What is available in the immediate area

Falköping municipality is planning to open a citizens' office in the municipality's library in Sankt Sigfridsgatan. This will be an open meeting place. Here you will be able to find answers to general questions, give your views, contact other public authorities and associations and apply for simple permits, among other things. Information is available in various languages. The municipality arranges various lectures, exhibitions and cultural meetings in close collaboration with associations.

Falköping town centre has both old buildings and a number of shops. Hypermarkets are located on the outskirts. There is, of course, employment service, social insurance office, tax office and social services office.

Pingstkyrkans Secondhand is another example of a meeting place to look for good value finds and drink coffee.

Childcare

In Falköping we strive constantly to achieve high quality in schools, nursery schools and after-school clubs. All children and pupils are entitled to the support they need. It is our ambition to use modern educational methods supported by new technology.

Falköping has 30 nursery schools, 16 of them in the population centre and 14 in the countryside. Of these, 10 are independent, of which 6 in the population centre and 4 in the countryside.

Compulsory schools and upper secondary schools

Falköping municipality has 18 comprehensive schools with various specialisations, 6 in the population centres and 12 in the countryside. Our upper secondary school, Ållebergsgymnasiet, has received many awards, for example as a volleyball school, elite football school, for choir singing, school magazine, vehicle lacquering, goldsmithing and pupils within Youth Enterprise. We are also proud of our municipal music school.

For young persons aged from year 6 through upper secondary school, there is a youth house with meeting places.

Education opportunities

The municipality's learning centre – which aims at jobs – there is a large range to give you new opportunities and show you new paths to go. Here you can find information about universities and colleges, specially designed education programmes, occupational further education, adult education, adult occupational training and special education for adults. At the learning centre, we also offer full-time studies in Swedish for Immigrants (SfI), in a pleasant working environment. You can apply direct on the Internet!

Health and medical care

The main rule is that when you need health and medical care, you should contact your medical centre in the first instance. In some cases, the municipality is responsible for health and medical care.

Falköping has several medical centres and access to hospital, ante-natal clinics, child healthcare clinics, emergency room and dental clinics.

Interpreter assistance

With all contact with the authorities, the municipality and health services, you are entitled to interpreting help if you do not speak or understand Swedish. This is booked in advance of the actual meeting.
