There are a number of churches in Karlsborg, including the Church of Sweden, the Pentecostal church and the Mission Covenant church.

We also have a vibrant civil society with sports clubs, cultural associations and charities such as the Red Cross and Save the Children.

Despite its small size, Karlsborg municipality has plenty of restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy everything from your favourite pizza to Asian food or a real gourmet meal. If a cup of coffee is what you're after, a visit to one of our many cosy cafés will be just the ticket.

Shops offer a selection of clothes, home furnishings and sports and leisure goods. If you want to go bargain hunting there are also a number of second-hand shops and flea markets.

The main library with a large selection of books is in central Karlsborg. There are also branches in Undenäs and Mölltorp.

Moliden swimming and athletics facility offers plenty of sports options. There are also plenty of trails and routes for running, cycling and hiking.

Other services, including the social welfare office, a pharmacy and banks are all centrally located in Karlsborg.

The Employment Service, Social Insurance Agency and Tax Agency have offices in Skövde, 45 km from Karlsborg.

Childcare

Karlsborg has preschools and pedagogic care activities for children between the ages of 1 and 5. For children between the ages of 6 and 12 who need supervision before and after school, while their parents are working, there are recreation centres.

Björken family centre is an open preschool that welcomes parents and children together.

Compulsory schools and upper secondary schools

Karlsborg has schools for children between the ages of 6 and 15. There is also a recreation centre that is open some nights for children between the ages of 6 and 18.

Towns in the area around Karlsborg have upper secondary schools for young people from the age of 16. Most of them travel to the upper secondary school in Skövde or in Tibro.

Education opportunities

Adults can study Sfi (Swedish for immigrants), municipal adult education or special needs adult education. Municipal adult education allows you to find the study format that best suits you. There is the possibility of combining studies at different levels, or studies with work.

Public transport

Public transport is available to Skövde, where there are train connections to Gothenburg and Stockholm, for example.

Work and entrepreneurship

Karlsborg municipality is one of the biggest employers. About a third of the municipality's employees will be retiring over the next ten years, so the municipality will need to employ a lot of people in the future – particularly within care and nursing.

Nyföretagarcentrum offers free advice and guidance to people starting their own business.

Other big employers in the municipality and the surrounding region are Volvo, Region Västra Götaland and the Swedish Armed Forces.
