Housing
Lerum has a variety of accommodation options and housing companies. The biggest company is Förbo, but there are also several private companies. However, you have to be on Förbo's housing list for several years in order to be offered a flat.
If you are newly arrived and come to Lerum with a designation from the Migration Agency, the municipality has to provide accommodation for you. Accommodation does not mean that each person gets their own flat. Flats to rent are very rare in the Gothenburg region, including within Lerum municipality, in the current housing market. Often the municipality is only able to offer a place in group accommodation, where you rent a private room but share spaces, such as a kitchen and bathroom, with other tenants.
If you arrive in Lerum without a designation, we are currently unable to offer you any accommodation.

Native language lessons are offered in several languages, including Arabic, Bosnian, Serbian, Croatian, Persian, Kurdish, Russian and Polish.

Lerum has many associations of different kinds, e.g. sports and athletics clubs and culture and recreation associations. There are associations for children as well as for adults. All associations are listed in an association register.

Lerum municipality is made up of several communities, including Lerum, Gråbo and Floda. Each community has a centre where services and commerce are available. Lerum's centre is the biggest, with a wide range of public services and shops. These include the municipal hall, citizens' office, social services, library, pharmacy and medical care centre.

Gråbo's centre has a supermarket, a pizzeria, a pharmacy and a library, among other shops and services.
Just outside of the centre of Lerum are several other shops, including the budget chain Lidl. Five kilometres outside of Lerum is the shopping area of Hulan, which includes the Ica Kvantum hypermarket.
Lerum's centre is also home to Vattenpalatset, a popular water recreation park. Children and adults from all over the Gothenburg region come here have fun in the water.

Lerum municipality has more than 50 preschools and family day nurseries with qualified and engaged staff. Both municipal and private options exist.
Compulsory schools and upper secondary schools
Lerum municipality has a wide range of education facilities, from preschools, family day nurseries and comprehensive schools to upper secondary schools and adult education. Both municipal and private options exist. In the centre of Lerum is Lerums Gymnasium, which offers several upper secondary programmes. There are also several schools to choose from in the surrounding municipalities, e.g. Gothenburg, Borås or Alingsås.
Education opportunities
Lerum offers many possibilities for adult education. At Lerums vuxenutbildning you can study Sfi (Swedish for immigrants) as well as many other courses and programmes. Courses offered include nursing and care, social studies and computer use. Gothenburg, only 20 minutes away by train, has many more higher education options, e.g. the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.
Health and medical care
Health and medical care services are good in Lerum municipality. There are four medical care centres, located in Floda, Gråbo and Lerum respectively. These also have paediatric centres and obstetric wards. In the centre of Lerum there is also a child and youth medical care centre, a youth clinic, an obstetric ward and rehabilitation clinics. There are also several dental clinics in Lerum municipality, both private and public. National dental health care services are available in Floda, Gråbo and Lerum. In Gothenburg there are several large hospitals with specialist clinics and delivery wards.

Public transport
The train between Lerum and Gothenburg only takes 18 minutes, and the bus takes 28. Both trains and buses run regularly. The road between Lerum and Gothenburg is an up-to-date motorway. The short distance between Lerum and Gothenburg makes commuting an attractive option. Many people who live in Lerum work in Gothenburg.
