Tibro possesses a unique specialist competence in furniture, interior decoration and logisitics, and an unusually rich civic life in sport, with many prominent athletes. Housing

Most housing companies and landlords in Tibro collaborate through an organisation called Lägenhetspoolen, the Flats Pool. Its aim is to make it easier for tenants to find landlords in the area. The municipal housing company is called Tibrobyggen, and you can find more information about it and its housing offering on its website.

Language groups in the locality

People from many different countries live in our municipality. Among the languages spoken by them are Arabic, Assyrian, Dari, Persian, Tigrinya and Somali.

Associations and organisations

Tibro has a rich civic life offering a fantastic range of leisure activities. There are around 130 associations in Tibro that offer different activities, including many sports and culture associations as well as ethnic and religious ones. Examples of the latter include the Assyrian Association, the Somali-Swedish Association, and New Swedes in Skaraborg.

Tibro has a large outdoor recreation area called Rankås, where you can walk, run and cycle in nature. During the snow cover period you can also do cross-country skiing.

What is available in the immediate area

Tibro municipality offers services of various kinds, including a library with storytelling sessions one day a week. The Municipal Hall has municipal guides at the reception to help you find your way around. The same building also contains a Närhälsan health centre, the Child Health Care Centre and the Family Centre.

In Tibro town centre are an ICA supermarket, an ICA Nära convenience store, a Netto, and Arabic shops. You can also find clothes shops, hairdressers and restaurants and cafés in the centre.

Tibro has a charity shop called Candela second hand, and Kupan, a Red Cross meeting point.

If you need to visit the Tax Agency, Arbetsförmedlingen or Försäkringskassan you have to go by bus or car to Skövde. There are good bus connections between Tibro and Skövde.

Tibro also has a popular Mini Zoo where you can look at various small animals and have coffee. Lake Örlen, a few kilometres outside Tibro, offers great opportunities for swimming.

Childcare

The Family Centre is a popular meeting place for parents with children. The centre is open several days a week and is a good place to meet other parents as well as get support in your role as parent.

Tibro municipality has nine preschools of which one is privately run. All children aged between 1 and 5 are welcome at preschool.

Comprehensive and upper secondary schools

Tibro municipality has three compulsory schools with preschool classes and classes for years 1-5, and one compulsory school for years 6-9. The municipality also provides special needs compulsory school for all years.

For young people aged 16 and above there are upper secondary schools in towns near Tibro. Most pupils commute to the upper secondary school in Skövde.

Education opportunities

The Competence Centre in Tibro municipality offers SFI courses and adult education. Adult education includes Swedish, mathematics and English programmes as well as various vocational training programmes, e g for child carers, CNC operators/carpenters, and car mechanics.

The Competence Centre also includes the Labour Market Unit, which offers guidance and internships among other things.

Health and medical care

Tibro has two medical care centres. One his Närhälsan Tibro and the other is Hälsocentralen. There are also a child health care centre, a midwifery clinic, a rehabilitation centre and a youth advice centre in central TIbro.

You will also find Folktandvården, the public dental health service, in central Tibro.

The nearest hospital and emergency ward is in Skövde.

Interpreter assistance

When you meet officials from the municipality and you need help understanding their Swedish, they can book an interpreter to interpret into your native language. It's important that you inform them early that you need an interpreter, so they have time to book the appropriate interpreter for you.

Public transport

There are buses from TIbro to Skövde, Hjo and Karlsborg, and back, throughout the day. From Skövde's central railway station you can catch buses as well as trains to a number of cities in Sweden.

Just as in the rest of Västra Götaland, the buses are run by Västtrafik.
